Blaine is interested in studying whether or not religiosity affects the amount of money Canadians give to charitable causes. He studies charitable giving statistics, and finds that Canadians who visit a place of worship once a week give more money to charity on average than other Canadians. He concludes that attending religious services weekly causes Canadians to give more money to charity.
a. What are Blaine's dependent and independent variables?
b. How does Blaine operationally define religiosity? Name one other way in which Blaine could have chosen to operationally define religiosity.
c. Is Blaine's research conclusion valid? Why or why not?
