Hi Steptim,

For an atom, the number of electron equal to the number proton. Therefore, Manganese atom has 25 electrons, and Carbon atom has 6 electron.
For the number of neutron, you have to take that mass indicated next to the atom's name minus the number of proton that atom has. For example. Manganese-55 atom has a mass of 55 amu and it has 25 protons. Therefore Manganese-55 has 55-25= 30 neutron. Similarly, Carbon-14 has 14-6= 8 neutrons.
