I know this sounds stupid but I don't understand how you know what order to do it in.

Example: if I did a punnett square and the offspring have the phenotypes: 9 are tall with yellow seeds, 3 are tall with purple seeds, 3 are short with yellow seeds, and 1 is short with a purple seed. The ratio can be 9:3:3:1, 9:1:3:3, 3:1:9:3, etc.

How do I know which one to pick?!?

9:3:3:1

That's how it's stated.
