You should use the direct approach for your bookkeeping department. Although your audience will have to make some arithmetical adjustments, chances are they will be unemotional about the change. On the other hand, your sales department will likely react very differently and you may want to use the indirect approach. The sales department may see the change as weakening your product’s competitive advantage, threatening their income and/or perhaps even their jobs.
