The relocation of electrons releases energy stored in organic molecules, and this energy is ultimately used to synthesize ATP. Take straight from the text.

My question is..

Is the relocation of electrons in effect causing the breaking of chemical bonds which is releasing the energy stored? If i'm not right, can anyone explain what the text is trying to tell me.

Your textbook is talking about the electron transport chain where electrons from NADH are transferred to the various complexes to produce ATP and create a hydrogen gradient in the inter-membrane space. See, electrons contain energy - they are negatively charged so they possess energy. They can be used to make or break molecules - depending on the reaction. When it is an anabolic reaction, the electrons are stored in the molecule; when it is an catabolic reaction, electrons are released.
