D) Complementary goods go with each other and are consumed together, and if new technology renders one obsolete, the demand for the other goes down.Although cable TV and Internet may be consumed at the same time and are often bundled together by service providers, neither is necessary to the operation of the other.  The other choices are inaccurate because, though they describe items that go with each other and are consumed together, the obsolescence of one does not lead to less demand of the other.
