Does the Inverse-square law disprove string theory?

String theory's 11 dimensions offer an explanation for the weakness of gravity: the gravity is diffused throughout all the dimensions. But it is accepted that gravity varies inversely with the square of distance because it has to permeate 3 dimensions! Can someone explain this contradiction to me?
