Altruistic behaviors

It's like saying to your best friend, I will put myself in danger for you, so that you can survive and I take the hit. If you were to think that people will only consider and act for the needs of others if there is something in it for them, it is the opposite of altruism. Another example is the question why adults take care of their newborns... Simply because of altruism.

Examples of altruism:

  • A ground squirrel giving an alarm call when a predator is near.
  • Nonreproductive male and female naked mole rats who forage for food.
  • A young bird remaining at the nest and helps the parents raise additional offspring.

Does this make sense?
