In late 2002, the Canadian government announced a new set of labeling regulations that became mandatory for all prepackaged goods on December 12, 2007. These new regulations specify which foods need a food label, provide detailed descriptions of the information that must be included on the food label, and outline the food products that are exempt from carrying nutrition information on their food labels.
