Activity 2:
1. For a single skeletal muscle twitch, explain the effect of increasing stimulus voltage.
2. How is this effect achieved in vivo?

Activity 3:
2. What changes are thought to occur in the skeletal muscle to allow treppe to be observed?

Activity 4:
1. Explain what you think is being summated in the skeletal muscle to allow a high stimulus frequency to induce a smooth, continuous skeletal muscle contraction.
2. Why do many toddlers receive a tetanus shot (and then subsequent booster shots, as needed, later in life)?  How does the condition know as "lockjaw" relate to tetanus shots?

Activity 6:
Explain what happens in the skeletal muscle sacromere to result in the changes in active, passive, and total force when the resting muscle length is changed?

2. How is this effect achieved in vivo?

1. The active force produced by the muscle increased as the stimulus voltage was increased.

2. In the body this is achieved by motor unit recruitment. More muscle fibers are recruited to increase the force generated.
