Spring constant k = F/y = m*g/y = 1200*9.8/.03 = 392000 N/m'energy stored in spring' ES = ½k*y² = ½*392000*.03² = 176.4 J

I guess you mean 1.2x10^3 kg.

The weight = mg = 1.2x10^3 x 9.8

Energy stored = ½ x force x (extension or compression)
= ½ x (1.2x10^3 x 9.8) x 0.030 joules

E.g. see about half-way down the link
