What questions/ideas did the Greek Pre-Socratic philosophers ponder that differed markedly from their predecessors?

  A) The existence of natural laws and an understanding of the substances that make up the earth and the universe instead of attributing it all to supernatural causes
  B) If the universe was mutable, and if so, how could it be understood in light of what was known, and what role the deities played
  C) If the deities are in fact directing the universe, why does suffering exist for humans that do obey them? What does this tell us about moral laws of the deities?
  D) Is there a supreme power beyond the deities that controls the deities and the Universe?
  E) None of these
