How did ancient Sumerians deal with the inconsistencies of a lunar calendar?

  A) The astronomers added five days per year to account for the differences and stay current with the seasons.
  B) The astronomers held special festivals at the end of each year where they would read entrails in hopes of divining how much time they would need to add to the calendar, between four and seven days.
  C) The king would determine, based on the previous season's harvest, how much time would be added to the calendar every other year.
  D) The Sumerian priests would consult the gods to determine which years needed additional days inserted to balance the seasons.
  E) The Sumerian astronomers would add an intercalary month every few years to right the calendar and keep with the seasons.
