D
Locus of control is a person's perception of the source of control over events and situations that affect the person's life. If the individual believes that health is controlled by an external source, there may be less motivation for action. This is often influenced by the individual's self-esteem. In the bargaining form of power to make health decisions, family members reach an agreement by give and take. In the coercion model of decision-making, a family member uses coercion to maintain power. This is often interpreted as abuse. De facto decision-making is making no decision and allowing a condition to take its course.
