Can someone explain what exactly happens in the Prometaphase stage of mitosis?

I am confused about how Prometaphase follows after Prophase..

Hi there,

Prophase is when the chromatin becomes tightly coiled.
Prometaphase is when each chromosome has a distinct centromere.
