Meiosis produces reproductive cells (sperm, egg), while mitosis divides somatic cells (everything but reproductive cells).

This question has been asked several times in the past. Make sure you conduct a search...

Meiosis produces 4 haploid cells which means that each cell has 23 chromosomes rather than 46 like 2 diploid cells would have. Mitosis is the division of every cell in our body (besides sexual reproductive cells) and is used for growth or to replace cell damage and death. Plus, meisosis goes through certain steps twice.
