The new furniture was finally finished. Exhausted, Renee, her children, and the new homeowners sat down on the couch they had just bought, and Edward put in a DVD. The DVD player started making a funny sound just after the movie started, so Edward took out the disk, cleaned it off, and put it back in. The movie continued without a problem.

The player reads the information on a DVD just like a ribosome reads RNA to make proteins during translation. The chain of polypeptides grows until the ribosome reaches a certain series of bases, just like the DVD stopped playing when the player sensed there was dirt on the disk.

Place the following events in order
a. The ribosome recognizes a start codon, and initiates the translation of a polypeptide from mRNA.
b. A protein moves through the endomembrane system for processing.
c. The ribosome recognizes a stop codon.
d. The ribosome moves along the mRNA, translating codons into amino acids and growing the polypeptide chain.
