Brown Production Director 19th October, 200_ Dear John, As I told you verbally yesterday, I have decided to leave the company and this letter is to inform you of my resignation from the post of Production Manager. The notice period indicated in my contract of employment is six weeks, but you agreed during our conversation yesterday that in my case this could be reduced to five weeks so as to enable me to take up the offer of another position. My date for leaving the company will therefore be 23rd November inclusive of any days of holiday still remaining. As I explained to you I have been very happy working here, and shall be leaving with many regrets. I have however been offered a post at a substantially higher salary with another company, where the prospects of further advancement are greater.
