Thor, son of Skyfather (Odin) and Gundala, Son of Thunder is one of the best superhero films from his home country namely America and Indonesia. In my opinion, this quite interesting name might be based on the origin of their strength where Thor as the god of lightning gained powers such as flight ability, lighting manipulation, teleportation, and super endurance from his father, God Odin used his power to stop all these events so Asgard was protected from danger and destruction , while Gundala was just a layman who was not once thought that he would get the strength to run fast and throw lightning from his hand when one day he was struck by thunder used it to fight for justice and fight evil. The Gundala film produced by Bumi Langit Cinematic Universe (BCU) is lifted from the comic "Gundala: Son of Thunder" by Husni telling the story of Gundala, someone who is strong, unyielding, loyal friends, and brave starting from young Gundala who was called Sancaka became a street child and learned to fight caused by his father killed for leading a demonstration, while his mother ran away. Thor's film consists of 3 series which are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) production house, is lifted from the comic by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Larry Lieber which tells the story of Thor, the angry God of Lightning from Asgard and troublemakers who were exiled to earth to learn humility. Loki, his younger brother used this opportunity to replace Thor as the Crown Prince of Asgard. The evil fairy race uses aether, one of infinity stone to plunge the world into eternal darkness. Then Hela, once again wanted to rule Asgard. But, Thor who had humbly stoped all these events.
In terms of story, I prefer Gundala because it is different from the comic version, so it is difficult to guess, there is a moral message that educates, challenges, a more realistic storyline with a background that portrays Indonesia by reflecting Indonesian legend namely Ki Ageng Selo from Mataram, Mahabrata epic , Javanese mythology, and Indonesian history focus on the political conditions and life of Indonesian society in the past. Behind all that, it is undeniable that there are some plots that suddenly appear or I feel a bit fast so it needs to be concentrated when watching, less dramatic because it is too focused on the main character ,and also when the battle scenes and transformation of the process into a Gundala is less interesting because it feels very slow. The third series from Thor is quite interesting with stories that not only focus on heroism but also include the romance and comedy that is possible because it is supported by many other side characters who participated in this film such as Dr. Strange, Loki, Hela, etc. Unfortunately the first and second series are very monotonous and not interesting because it is easy to predict the continuation of a story that is almost similar to the inspiration of this film, Nordic mythology. Overall Gundala is no less good than Thor, who is expected to be able to imitate Thor's footsteps, which always improves performance in the next series. We can conclude from the story that Thor and Gundala are heroes who have superpowers. It is just Thor, who was originally a troublemaker to be exiled from his kingdom, Asgard, has now prefer to be humble for the sake of his kingdom and people, participating in stopping all who threaten the security of Asgard, his kingdom, while Gundala although his life is difficult and full of injustice, he still wants to help others by eradicating crime.
