Field Day Planning Flip Tarp – All of an individual team gathers on one large tarp and must try to flip it over without stepping off. The first team to succeed wins. Each team should have their own tarp and teacher monitor. (materials needed 8 tarps) Raider Marathon- Students will first jump hurdles starting at the home team field end from the right. The hurdle jumper will tag the next in the relay to role a tire down the 50 yard line. Then the tire roller will tag a piggy back team that will run to the opposite field goal who will tag the slip and slide person who will finish the race by sliding down the slide. (This will have to be run 8 times) Team with the quickest time wins. Hurdles can NOT be knocked down. (materials needed-1 tire; some hurdles; 1 slip and slide; 5 people) Tug of war- each team will gather so that little kids are at the front large kids to the back, and vs each other in tug of war. There will be three lines in the ground. In order to win the team must pull the marker on the rope over to their side. (materials needed rope (thick and at least 20 foot long; 1 bandanna to use as marker, spray paint/or/ chalk to make marks in ground. Sponge relay- The object of the game is to transport as much water from a bucket at the beginning of the line to a bucket at the end of the line. This involves the whole team. The team with the most water in the last bucker by the end wins. ( teacher monitors required). (materials needed- 16 buckets; 8 Large sponges) Ships and Sailors- Their will be announcer that will call from the following actions: Ships, sailors, Man overboard, Adease, sea sick, 5 mean pointing north, 4 men eating, 3 men rowing, beached whale, captains coming. Students must perform proper actions when the command is called the rules for each command is as follows Ships- the entire student body must move right- moves wrong way out Sailors- the entire student body must move left- moves wrong way out Man over board- Everyone must be in a group of two(only). One partner must be on hands and knees as the second partner must have their foot on the kneeled persons back and pose as if looking out to sea. (hand over eyes as if shading from the sun- Any body that does not have a partner is out Captain’s coming- students must stand in an (attention) salute form and can not move until announcer says adease. If a student moves when the announcer says a command like ship or sailors or 3 men eating before the announcer calls adease he or she is out. Adease- is not necessarily a command that requires action, it relieves the command Captain’s coming so that players can move freely again. Seasick- All students must pretend to regurgitate 5 men pointing north- all students must get into groups of 5 (no more monitors should count) and point upward-Any left overs are out. 4 men eating-students get into groups of 4(no more monitors should count) and pretend to eat. 3 men rowing- students get into groups of 3(no more) in a line and pretend to row a boat Beached whale- get on the ground and flop like a beached whale. NOTES- If there are too many people in a group of 2, 3, 4, 5 for the numbered actions then if they can not decide who is out ALL ARE OUT. Winners are down to the last 2 or 3 (2 is about as low as you can go) Hula Hoop Race- Individual teams will link arms and try to transport a hola-hoop from one end of the line to the other by fitting their bodies through it.- first team to do so wins- If linked arms breaks then team starts over.- (materials needed 8 XL hola-hoops) Human knot- team must randomly link hands each hand to a different person then try to unknot themselves in a way such that they form a circle. This must be repeated until successful. First team to completes wins Grapefruit game- pass a grapefruit(held between chin and chest) through the line of the entire team. (8 grapefruits) Human pyramid- 7 members from each team will stack themselves into a pyramid while the seventh person spots. Players should be on hands and knees in the stack with a base of 3 second tier of 2 and 1 on top. First team to do so without falling wins) Balloon toss- whole team tossing a water balloon from person to person without popping it, relaying it down the line one end of the field to the other. (little kids can carry the balloon) if it pops start over. First team to get it to the end and back wins. (a ton of water balloons. Egg walk- place one egg Ins spoon and must move the egg form on members spoon to the next members spoon without breaking int. If it falls and doesn’t break continue from where it fell. If egg breaks then start over. (materials-10 members per line. 80 spoons, and a whollatta of eggs)winner- team that gets to the end first AND the team that takes the least amount of eggs. Three Legged race- two teammates tie one leg from each together, must coordinate and run together from the 20 yard line to the to the end of the field first team to do so wins. ( if falls just get up) Dressing game- participants must run to end, retrieve an item and bring it to the line, drop it, and the next participant repeats until all items are retrieved, then the last person must dress in outfit(ridiculous as possible). First team with all items and a dressed individual win IN THE EVENT OF A TIE- the teams will perform the box game, in which all of a team must fit all of their members inside of a box outline on the ground. Team to do so first wins. REWARD- Raider Fieldday bragging right for one year! Eight teams of 20 children: Team colors: Pink Blue Yellow Orange Red Green Purple Gray Beached whale Captains coming
