Laney Butts MSU Alumni Association hosts spring Senior Celebration The Mississippi State University Alumni Association will host a Senior Celebration from 5-7 p.m. on April 24 at the Hunter Henry Center to congratulate the class of 2019. The Alumni Association has conducted Senior Celebration for years, but this spring the organization is making a few changes to the event. Orly Hardin, assistant director of alumni engagement and recruitment programs, said she is excited about changing the format of the event. “This year we are working to make the event not only a celebration for our graduating seniors, but also an opportunity for them to network with other seniors who may be relocating to the same area,” Hardin said. “We are also inviting current alums who are active in a chapter, so seniors can make connections with those who may be in the same field of study.” Seniors can sing and dance to the DJ, take pictures with friends in the photobooth and score free T-shirts. Bully the mascot will also be in attendance to celebrate. The association is also providing a new menu with an array of options. Seniors can indulge in funnel cake fries, a french fry bar, hamburger sliders, chips and dip, and more. Clark Beverage and Lazy Magnolia will provide beverages for the event. Several raffle ticket drawings will be held. Seniors who RSVP prior to the event can win MSU goodies and two season tickets to football games. RSVP at https://www.alumni.msstate.edu. The first 50 seniors to arrive at the event will receive special cowbells. Hardin said the association hopes to create an atmosphere where students can have fun and create some of their last memories at MSU while making new connections for future possibilities. “This year, the event will be unlike any other Senior Celebration we have had,” Hardin said. “We want to do more for the graduates. Our goal for the event now is to help seniors get a foot in the door and assist them in their future endeavors.” Since its beginning, the university and the MSU Alumni Association have seen many changes. However, what remains the same is the spirit and loyalty of graduates and friends. Now known as Mississippi State University, there are over 125,000 living alumni who share the same love and devotion as the inaugural group of graduates who established the association. With 95 alumni chapters around the state, nation and world, MSU alumni stand strong and are truly "forever maroon and white."
