Pre-Lab Questions
Identify one reproductive difference between sporophytes and gametophytes.
Gametophytes reproduce sperm and eggs asexually and then sexual reproduction is used. Which basically means gametophytes are haploids in the reproductive cycle. While sporophytes are diploids in the reproductive cycle.
How do gymnosperms vary from other seed-forming plants?
The seeds gymnosperms produce develop on the tips of the cones. In other seed-forming plants, it is in the chambers of the ovaries.
How do abiotic factors such as wind or water influence pollination behavior?
Abiotic factors such as wind can influence how far pollination is carried and the overall means of transportation.

Post-Lab Questions
Are the spores produced by the moss sporophyte formed by meiosis or mitosis? Are they haploid or diploid?
The spores produced by the moss sporophyte are formed by meiosis and are haploid.
Do the spores belong to the gametophyte or sporophyte generation?
Sporophyte generation.
Experiment 2: Observation of a Flower
Post-Lab Questions
What are some unique characteristics of angiosperms?
Angiosperms seeds are found in a flower. Angiosperms have much smaller female reproductive parts than non-flowering plants. The seeds are covered by the fruit in angiosperm plants that grow to be fruits.
How many carpels are in the lily? How many stamen?
3 carpels and 6 stamen.
Describe the male gametophyte of a seed plant.
It is the pollen. Pollens main function is to deliver male gametes to the ovule.
Describe the female gametophyte of a seed plant.
