The motion of the Moon around Earth as seen from above Earth’s north polar region
(ignoring Earth’s orbit around the Earth-Moon barycenter). For the
Moon to keep the same side facing Earth as it orbits our planet,
the Moon must rotate on its axis at precisely the same rate
that it revolves around Earth
