Midsagittal image of the head on an MRI scan

Description
A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan uses a magnetic field to create many individual images of the body in “slices.” This image was taken along the midsagittal plane. The prefix mid- means middle. Other images taken during this scan would show “slices” along many parasagittal planes on either side of the midline. The prefix para- means beside; apart from.
