The fish shown here are the limnetic (upper) and benthic (lower) forms of sticklebacks from British Columbia. The first gill arch with its characteristic gill rakers is shown for each fish. FD refers to first dorsal spine, SD to second dorsal spine, and PS to pelvic spine.
