L-type calcium channel: (a) Calcium channel opens when an action potential passes across the sarcolemma. Calcium enters the cell and muscle contraction occurs. (b) Calcium channel antagonist binds to the receptor, changing its shape; channel closes and muscle relaxation occurs.
