Mutual Protection

Description
The stinging tentacles of this sea anemone (Heteractis magnifica) protect its partner, a pink anemonefish (Amphiprion perideraion) from fish-eating predators. In return, the anemonefish chases away fish that eat sea anemone tentacles. The anemonefish secretes a special mucus that pre-vents the anemone from stinging it.
