THANKS SO MUCH DUDDY! I have a huge test this weekend and fell behind this week.

Sorry to ask for more but do you know any of the following?

Which of the following illustrates the correct ordering of trophic levels?

energy flows in one direction, nutrients recycled. Energy initially comes from the sun, harnessed by producers (plants) that are consumed by primary consumers (herbivores/omnivores). These consumers will then pass that energy to a secondary consumer, carnivore. The secondary, and even many primary ones that aren't prey, will die and decompose. Decomposers will gain this energy as well, breaking down the body of various organisms and releasing those nutrients into the soil. This way, both energy and nutrients have flowed through the organisms but only the nutrients are recycled, in the soil where plants can consume them through the roots. Energy is given off through the flow by heat and other processes and will not cycle through to the primary producers. Only the sun gives the plants energy (even carnivorous plants need the sun more than they do insect meat)

Rice farming will be the most efficient. Animals need to be fed and watered, precious land resources that could be used for the huge numbers of humans. This would be a disastrous move. Fish would require an abundance of feed as well, lots of space, clean water. Cattle and chicken fall into the same category. Rice will only require land, can grow in considerable density, and require sunlight and rain. Provided the soil is fertile and rainfall isn't rare, which isn't even a part of the question. ALSO, starches are an excellent source of calories, being processed at slow rate it will provide energy throughout the day. Many cultures have subsisted off of rice alone and humans would never have the brains they do if not for the inclusion of starch in their diet Wink Face

B. The otters likely have another food source. There are about as many otters as there are sea urchin, if otters survive solely on sea urchin the urchin would be gone in a day. This leads us to the conclusion that the otters include sea urchin in their diet, allowing for repopulation that maintains this ratio.
