The Java EE architecture includes the client, Web/business, and datatiers. The client tier can include Web browsers andJava client components. The Web/business tier can include JavaServerPages, servlets, and Enterprise JavaBeans. The data tier is a DBMS.Each component type in the Web/business tier is described by a Java standard.Interactions between components and tiers are based on standards such asRemote Method Invocation, Java Naming and Directory Interface, Java Authentication and Authorization Service, and Java Database Connectivity.Java EE standards share some architectural features with CORBA, but there are still major differences that limit interoperability.Java EE is incompatible with COM+ and has limited interoperability with SOAP (but both standards are expected to evolve toward one another).
