I need actual sites that give medical or genetic details. This is for a research paper. I am not interested in the cultural phenomenon or movies. 54 yr old college student working on documentation of medical and genetic causes and hereditary factors.
Is there a known virus or condition? A blood disease or something similar? This is a serious inquiry...I am not interested in the fantasy nonsense, but those that may have an actual physical condition.

The legends of Vampirism are rooted in photosensitivity or "photophobia" and conditions like Lupus and albinism...  There is no real condition in medicine called "vampirism" but as others have said you can research the history behind these myths and then the real genetic factors behind them.

As far as Vampirism as a medical condition wherein a person must drink blood to survive and can only live at night - there is no such thing (that we know about).  Sorry Face with Stuck-out Tongue
