Use Pythagorean's Theorem

c2 = a2 + b2

Where:

c = length of one wire
a = height of pole
b = distance of wire from bottom of pole

c^2 = 16^2 + 8^2
c^2 = 256 + 64
c^2 = 320
sqrt(c^2) = sqrt(320)
c = 17.9

Total wire:

2 x 17.9 = 35.8 feet
