How do the sizes of receptive fields change as you proceed up the visual pathway (starting at the LGN)?

   I know that the receptive field size increases at successive processing stages in the visual pathway...

Does the receptive field size of visual neuron relate to the preferred size of the visual feature that the neuron responds to?
   
   This part has me confused...can anyone help out please?
