  a. Interpret this resistance, and encourage the client to talk about it.
  b. Drop the topic for now, and bring it up again a few minutes later.
  c. Verify that the client has difficulty discussing it, and let it rest until the client brings it up again.
  d. Point out how much the client will benefit from discussing it, and discuss it further.

When a client is reluctant to discuss a given topic, the nursing intervention based on client-oriented therapy is to verify that the client has difficulty discussing the issue. The nurse should then let the issue rest until the client brings it up again. This approach helps the client feel safe in therapy, and it empowers the client.
