The nurse is teaching a group of nurses about the grief experience. One of the nurses comments, When my mother died, I never saw my father show any emotion. He wanted to be strong for the children.

What do you think will happen with those unexpressed feelings? Which of these answers is most appropriate?
  1. Pent-up emotions may lead to depression or other disorders.
  2. Your father probably has worked through his grief by this time.
  3. Maybe you can teach him how to express his feelings.
  4. If feelings are not expressed, the person will become suicidal.
