a. Treatment of nociceptive orofacial pain is not as complicated as for neuroleptic pain. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are adequate for acute pain control. More intense nociceptive pain responds well to opioids (narcotic analgesics).
