Location diagrams are useful to describe a distributed environment. Large organizations may have offices, and hence applications, that are geographically dispersed. A location diagram is useful to specify which function, feature, hardware and software are located at which locations.
Network diagrams are useful to specify which features and functions are deployed over a network and how they are configured. A network diagram can describe what operating systems, what application software and what hardware is deployed throughout a network.
Deployment diagrams provide more detail about specific components of the software and how it is deployed around the network. In other words, a deployment diagram focuses on the software itself and how it is configured and built at each node of a network.
