C₂H₅OH(l) + 3 O₂(g) → CH₂Cl₂(g) + 2 HCl(g)

During an experiment 10.0 g of ethanol is completely burned in air to release CO₂(g) and H₂O(g) as shown in the equation above. During the combustion, 296.6 kJ of heat energy is released. What is the molar enthalpy of combustion, deltaH°comb?

Could someone point me towards the formula on how we calculate the enthalpy of combustion?

it's the sum of the delta h values of the products minus the sum of the delta h values of the reactants

Thank you,

Incase people are wondering

10.00 g x mol/46.08g= .2170 mol C2H5OH

X kj/ 1 mol = -296.6 kj/.2170

x=-1367 kj per mole
