such as a monitor when the wattage is not displayed but only the voltage and the amps?

Example my monitor power specification is

240 volts 1.9A/1.1 A

So what does that mean in wattage?

If its a three-phase motor, the equation is:
Watts = Volts x Amps x 1.73

If its a one-phase motor, the equation is:
Watts = Volts x Amps

Also, the rated amp draw is not necessary the actual running amp draw.  It depends on how loaded the motor is.  If its quite oversized, your power draw could be much less than the rated amount.
