cause : Climate change advanced the storms to time it along with summer snow melt in the Rockies (for Missouri system).
effect : Unprecedented floods that weren't foreseen for which the cities on its bank (mostly Mississippi from St.Louis & downstream) unprepared, causing property loss on a large scale.
It has also restored water flow volume to the pre-Columbus times undoing the ecological harm, mainly by filling up the connected lakes. In normal times the lakes reduce the high water levels by withdrawing water from Mississippi.
