Without biodiversity natural selection would not work properly.  If all the organisms of a species were similar then there would be nothing to select for either they would all have a beneficial trait or would all have a hindering trait

Biodiversity, the variation of life forms within a given ecosystem, is important in natural selection because genetic variation among individuals and populations encourages adaptability to changes in the environment, which ultimately ensures species survival.

If there wasn't biodiversity, natural selection wouldn't occur. Everything would stay the same or they would all evolve the same way.
