strong acid+weak base = weak acid

strong base+weak acid = weak base

weak base and weak acid.....depends on concentration of both acid and base. you cannot calculate the pH unless you know the concentration and volume for both the acid and the base. that's because the pH depends on the number of moles of H+.

when you combine acid and base, you produce a salt and water (H+OH = H2O)

the purpose of using an indicator for a titration is to find out the concentration of the unknown sample you're looking for. the indicator (such as phenolthalein) changes color so that you know when to stop titrating. always in a titration, you use a known concentration and titrate with an unknown so you can use the volume of the known and the conc. of the known to find out the concentration of the unknown.
