The overall reaction in the lead storage battery is

Pb(s) + PbO2(s) + 2H+(aq)+2HSO-4 (aq) ---->2PbSO4(s)+2H2O)(l)

Calculate E at 25C for this battery when [H2SO4] = 4.5 M, that
is, [H+] =(HSO-4)= 4.5 M. At 25C, E° = 2.04 V for the lead 4
storage battery.

i do know know how to do this question, all i know is that i have to use the Nernst Equation

I think the first thing that i have to do is split the equation into 2 half reaction. But i do not know how to do it for this question, there is 4 reactant and only 2 product

i am thinking i should split it up like this

Pb(s) + PbO2(s) ---->2PbSO4(s)

and

 2H+(aq)+2HSO-4 (aq)---->2H2O)(l)

am i going right?

Hi,

Well, I stated that the equation is not balanced. You can go ahead and balance with the Oxygen with H2O and hydrogen with H+. And at the end, you can substitute H+ as H2SO4 (which dissociate and become H+ and HSO4-). Since the equation given is already balanced, I didn't not realized there is a need to go through the balancing process.

Best,
Laser
