A gene affects the posterior morphology  in Drosophila and is inherited as a maternal effect gene.  The gene exists in a normal allele,T, and a a recessive allele, t, which leads to defective posterior structures.  A female fly with normal posterior stuctures is mated  to a true-breeding fly male  with defective posterior structures.  All of the offspring have defective posterior structures. What are the genotypes of the mother and offspring?

They say that those who are "t" leads to defective posterior structures. It is also maternal effect gene, so it effects the "X" chromosome. If all of the offspring have defective posterior structures, then they must have at least one "t" allele.

This genotype confers an outcome of all offsprings that are defective.
