Consider the sequence 3'-T-C-T-C-T-A-C-G-T-5' .
a.What is the complementary strand sequence?
b.What is the total number of covalent bonds joining the nucleotides in each strand?
c.What is the total number of noncovalent bonds joining the nucleotides of the complementary strands?

a) complementary seq.
5'-A-G-A-G-A-T-G-C-A-3'

b) total no. of covalent bonds
one phosphate of previous nucleotide in covalently bonded with sugar of next so covalnet bond in each strand = 8

c) total non covalent bond = H bonds between strands =
3 H bond btwn G and C
2 H bond btwn A and T

so total = 2+3+2+3+2+2+3+3+2 = 22

Consider the sequence 3'-T-C-T-C-T-A-C-G-T-5'

And its complimentary strand 5'-A-G-A-G-A-T-G-C-A-3'

What is the total number of covalent bonds joining the nucleotides in each strand?

What is the total number of noncovalent bonds joining the nucleotides of the complementary strands?
