It is the first day of your rotation on the afternoon shift. You hear in a report that one of your patients has slipped back into depression. As you make your first rounds, you observe this patient sitting quietly and staring out the window.
 
  The patient does not respond when you approach him or her, so you say, therapeutically:
  A) What's the matter? It can't be that bad
  B) Pull it together. You are so close to being discharged
  C) I understand you are feeling bad. I'd like to help.
  D) What happened? Everything was fine yesterday.
