A) A neutral stimulus (e.g., a tuning fork tone) is paired repeatedly with an unconditioned stimulus (e.g., meat powder) which brings about an unconditioned response (e.g., salivating to food). The likely result is that the neutral stimulus will trigger a conditioned stimulus that brings about a conditioned response (e.g., salivating in response to the tone). This process is called classical conditioning.
