Explain how a high carb diet could lead to fat gain

Carbohydrates, such as glucose, are converted into fat. The liver removes two-thirds of the glucose from the blood and all of the remaining monosaccharides. This absorbed glucose is changed into glucose 6- phosphate by hexokinase and the liver specific enzyme, glucokinase. The liver also plays a major role in lipid metabolism. When fuels are abundant, fatty acids from diet or made by the liver are esterfied and secreted into the blood in the form of very low density lipoproteins. When malonyl-CoA is abundant, long chain fatty acids are prevented from entering the mitochondrial matrix. Instead they are exported to adipose tissue for incorporation into triacylglycerols.

I forgot what this pathway is called, so I hope someone else can chime in.
