For a population of species which exhibits logistic growth, population growth rate can be calculated using the following equation:

dN/dt = rN ( 1- N/K)

Where dN/dt – Population growth rate

             K – Carrying capacity

              r – Rate of individuals per month

              N – Population size

Maximum growth rate occurs when population size is half of the carrying capacity of the habitat (N = K/2).

In the given situation

K = 240 individuals

N = K / 2 = 240 / 2 = 120

r = 0.3 individuals per month

Maximum population logistic growth rate for the population can be calculated as follows:

dN/dt = rN ( 1- N/K)

dN/dt = 0.3 x 120 (1 – 120/ 240)

dN/dt = 36 (1 – 0.5)

dN/dt = 36 x 0.5

dN/dt = 18 individuals per month
