The Himalayas are the result of orogenic activity caused by the collision of India and Eurasia.
Hence, these mountains are an example of a continental-continental convergent plate
boundary. This is the reason that earthquakes are common in the region. The student may
also want to discuss these mountains in terms of a Wilson Cycle.
