A male patient has been placed on tamsulosin for BPH. After 3 days he returns, stating that the drug has not improved his symptoms. The nurse should respond in which way?

  1. Give it more time. It can take 2 weeks to see a difference in symptoms.
  2. If the drug has not produced an effect by now, it should be stopped.
  3. The drug should be changed to one that is more potent.
  4. You should reduce your fluid intake to see if that helps relieve your symptoms.
